Stratification of Arts

Art is everywhere! Whether you're in a small town or big city, there is art. I find that if you're in a bigger city, you have more experiences to view artwork. It seems that is more opportunities to view various forms of art in the big city center. I will use Prince George for example. I know Prince George is not a big metropolis, however, there is art galleries, a play house, a theatre production, dance studios and many other amenities that promote art forms. Since being in Prince George, I have been exposed to more art forms and it has been great trying new things. I have been to a play at Theatre Northwest and i thought that the play was very good. Seeing small productions really helps one appreciate the amount of work that goes into creating a production. Even the smallest town can create a play, with minimal resources, and the local people may love it. The bigger the production means more money and resources go into making the play, means that it attracts greater talent and more likely a more fulfilling entertainment experience. This stratification of art work through the most simplest of forms to the complex allows you to see where the work goes.

Storytelling Festival

I have attended various events for the 'Ut'loo Noye Khunni : Weaving Words Festival over the years and I have thoroughly enjoyed the events. It was one of the first times that I had connected to a First Nations author and it was very stimulating. I remember sitting in one UNBC's theatre seats, and being in awe of the various author's presence. It did not matter who they were, what their name was, where they came from, I just really respected that they were able to get up in front of the audience and share their stories because the stories were very interesting. They were great role models to me and I wanted to learn from their work.

I have taken many English courses while at university, and I do have an appreciation for good writing whether it be in the form of a poem, short story, or novel. It has been very fulfilling to read many different forms of writing because I think it provides a rich background from which to derive information from. Each new writing piece adds to your schema, and the thoughts that each piece provokes creates new experiences that you may never have experienced before. It opens your world up to new possibilities. I am grateful for all of the poems and short stories I was forced to read in my university level english courses. I think fondly of them and so I have something to compare other writing to.  Through reading, I have tried things that I wouldn't necessarily try in my life.Variety is truly the spice of life.

Launch Sequence Started

Some time during my life I have heard that great art evokes strong emotions. Art can be performed, created, and illustrated in many forms and is only limited by our imaginations. As humanity evolves into the future, art is becoming increasingly intricate and complex that some art work is blurring the lines between art and reality. I, myself, am fascinated with many forms of art such as photography.

I have an app on my smart phone (Samsung Galaxy S3) called Flipboard and one of my interests in Flipboard is photography. One of the recent articles in Flipboard has been photographs that look extremely like paintings. It is amazing what kinds of images that can be captured by a lens, utilizing lighting and perhaps some software tinkering. I swear this one photograph was a painting, or a model of some sort, except upon closer examination was indeed a photograph.

I am thankful for being exposed to art that makes me think, or evokes strong emotion because of what it takes to be able to create beautiful and impactful art work. Some people work their whole lives to have their art work evolve into something great. It may start at something really basic, but it takes nourishment, and encouragement to be able to get to that level of greatness that really makes somebody step back and say "Wow, what a great piece!", or just be in awe and speechless. I really wish that I had taken the time for myself to nourish my artistic side because I really think that I could have been a great artist. I just did not have the outlet, or the guidance to point me down an artistic path. This is something that I would like to provide for my students in the future.
